The “Peach Bowl Convention Centre” was Canada’s first stand-alone convention centre. Now, double its original size, the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre is one of Western Canada’s leaders in meetings, conventions and special events annually driving 34,000 to 50,000 room nights. Over the years, the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre has welcomed millions of people through its doors, with notable guests including her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
In celebration of 50 years of meetings and conventions, the Spectra-managed Penticton Trade and Convention Centre invites you to a community celebration on Saturday, August 22. The event will take place in the North Lobby, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. During the community event, a symbolic legacy art piece, by local sculptor Clint George, will be revealed. The symbolic art piece will be a focal point in the North Lobby, and enjoyed by delegates and event attendees for the next 50 years.
Adding to the celebration, past event attendees and residents of the South Okanagan are encouraged to share their electronic pictures and email their favourite memories from events held at the “Peach Bowl” convention centre and the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. These will be featured at the event. Please submit your photos and memories by Friday, August 14 to jill.smith [at] penticton.ca. Every person who shares a memory or photo from events enjoyed over the years at the convention centre will be entered to win two tickets to Ringo Starr and his all Starr Band performing at the South Okanagan Events Centre on October 10.
